Tranmere Rovers vs Macclesfield Town – Man of the Match

By Peter Tscherewik

Tranmere had a disastrous Tuesday evening at Prenton Park, after being defeated 4-1 at the hands of league leaders Macclesfield.

The result sees the Super Whites fall down to sixth in the Vanarama National League table, seven points off the top and having played one game more.

After the final whistle we asked you to vote for your man of the match out of Steve McNulty, the Super White Army, and were open to any other suggestions.

We can now reveal that your man of the match was the Super White Army!

In truth there were very few positives to take from the match, but the biggest of them all was the impact of the fans. The official attendance was 7,385 with 429 travelling away fans. To date this is the highest figure of the season at Prenton Park, a truly magnificent effort from everyone who was at the game.

To their credit, the Kop were in full flow from nearly an hour prior to kick-off, and despite goals going in at the wrong end the noise hardly dropped a decibel.

The fans may have grabbed 54% of the vote, but a special mention must go to Steve McNulty who to his credit didn’t stop giving it his all, right up until the final whistle. As every good captain should, he lead by example and did everything he could with regards to putting his body on the line for Tranmere as he always does.
